After losing two of their top three-point threats from last season, the Pistons have made a crucial addition: Duncan Robinson is coming to Detroit.

The Pistons have acquired Robinson on a three-year, $48 million deal in a sign-and-trade with the Heat that sends Simone Fontecchio and his $8 million salary to Miami.

Robinson is a career 40 percent shooter from three who will help the Pistons spread the floor on offense and make up for the losses of Malik Beasley, who is under federal investigation for gambling allegations, and Tim Hardaway Jr., who is signing with the Nuggets.

A seven-year vet and a Michigan product, Robinson averaged 11.0 points and shot 39.3 percent from beyond the arc in 74 games last season -- consistent with his career averages. He helped the Heat make two trips to the NBA Finals and win eight playoff series during his time in Miami.

The Pistons returned to the playoffs last season and gave the Knicks fits in the first round, but are still looking for their first series win since 2008. They have also added Caris LeVert in free agency as they seek to replace Beasley, Hardaway Jr. and Dennis Schroder, their top three free agents.

Robinson and LeVert were teammates at Michigan in the 2015-16 season.
