It appears the Pistons are bringing back their famous (infamous?) teal jerseys as an alternate look for next season.
Leaks on Twitter this week showed each NBA team's 'Classic Edition' uniform for the 2022-23 season. Sure enough, the Pistons' uniform is the same one they wore from 1996-2001, right down to the flaming horse head on the chest and the black and gold trim.
It's a somewhat natural progression from the Pistons' 'City Edition' jerseys this year, which feature teal accents. The club's Teal Era was mostly defined by losing, but nostalgia is a powerful drug.
Like their 'City Edition' uniforms, the Pistons will likely only rock the teal a handful of times next season, after which it will be taken out of rotation. But who knows -- if it's popular enough, the team might just keep it around.
