Detroit Pistons pay homage to NBA sneaker culture

You can't talk about sneaker culture without bringing up the NBA in the first sentence.

For as long as I can remember, my favorite sneakers were made famous on the hardwood. Whether it was Magic and Bird in the Converse, Dee Brown in his pumps or MJ in his Jordans, that's where I learned what I needed on my feet.


So when the Pistons released their 2020-21 schedule last week, they made a video displaying each matchup through the lens of sneakers worn in past matchups.

I spoke with Pistons VP, Brand & Marketing Strategy, Tyrel Kirkham, about how all this came together.

Additionally, the Pistons are working with Detroit-based artist Eric "El Cappy" Lowry to design a custom pair of 313-themed sneakers that will be given away to one lucky fan.
