The Pistons have made their first move ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
Detroit is trading forward and pending free agent Kevin Knox, along with a 2024 second-round pick and the rights to former second-round pick Gabriele Procida, to the Jazz in exchange for forward Simone Fontecchio, according to ESPN.
Knox appeared in 31 games for the Pistons this season, averaging 7.2 points and shooting 33 percent from three. He was also traded by the Pistons last season in the deal that brought James Wiseman to Detroit and sent Saddiq Bey to the Hawks.
Fontecchio, 28, is having a solid season in his second year in the NBA after several professional seasons in Europe. He averaged 8.9 points and shot 39.1 percent from three in 50 games this year with the Jazz, who signed him in 2022 out of the top league in Spain.
Fontecchio will be a restricted free agent this offseason and the Pistons will likely aim to make him part of their core. He should give them needed length and shooting on the perimeter.
Procida, 21, has yet to play a game in the NBA, having spent the past two seasons in the top league in Germany.
