(WWJ) – The Pistons season has come to an end, and so too has the Dwane Casey era.
Casey told reporters after Sunday’s 103-81 season finale loss at Chicago that the game was his last as Detroit’s head coach and that he’ll be moving to the front office.
"I just told the guys that this is my last game and I'm moving to the front office," Casey said, noting he would have "more official meeting" with the team later this week.
His role in the front office was not immediately clear.
Casey went 121-263 over five seasons as the Pistons’ head coach.
The Pistons finished with the worst record in the NBA this season at 17-65, the second-worst season in franchise history behind the 16-win 1979-1980 season.
Detroit will enter next month’s NBA Draft Lottery tied with the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs for the best odds of winning the No. 1 overall pick.
