The NBA Draft is two days away, and the Pistons still aren't 'fully' committed to taking Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 pick.
Smokescreen? Perhaps. Detroit's apparent hesitation on Cunningham could attract more trade offers ahead of Thursday night. Both the Rockets and the Thunder are pursuing the No. 1 pick.
At the same time, the Pistons might be genuinely interested in another prospect: Jalen Green.
Detroit hosted Green for a private workout last week, a few days after hosting Cunningham. Per longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein, Green's "stellar workout apparently made the strongest of impressions" and is "one of the factors keeping the Pistons from committing fully to the selection of Cunningham."
A 6-6 combo guard, Green spent last season with the G League Ignite and averaged 17.9 points and 4.1 boards while shooting 37 percent from three in 15 games. He and USC center Evan Mobley are seen as the top two players on the board after Cunningham.

Green is more athletic than Cunningham, though less of a playmaker. Per CBS Sports, "Green's upside is that of an All-NBA scoring guard and eventual Hall of Famer." He's already drawn comparisons to the likes of Bradley Beal and Zach LaVine.
Still, Cunningham is the favorite to be selected by Detroit No. 1 overall. If the Pistons opt for Green instead, they'll likely try to trade down with the Rockets who are slated to pick No. 2.
