DALLAS (105.3 the Fan) - The Wednesday matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons was reportedly postponed on Tuesday morning, due to an order from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

The Dallas Stars were also forced to cancel their second consecutive game on Tuesday because of the conditions.

Abbott made the decision in response to the winter storm that has decimated the state of Texas and left countless citizens without power. Abbott declared a state of emergency due to the storm and has deployed the national guard and law enforcement to help aid in the situation.

“Due to the severe weather and freezing temperatures across our state, many power companies have been unable to generate power, whether it’s from coal, natural gas, or wind power,” said Governor Abbott. “ERCOT and the PUC are working non-stop to restore power supply. The state has also deployed resources to assist Texans without power and to help essential workers continue to carry out their jobs. In the meantime, I encourage all Texans to continue to stay off the roads, and conserve energy as state agencies work with private providers to restore power as quickly as possible.”

The Mavs were also forced to cancel Tuesday's media availability due to the conditions causing power outages at the team facility.

There has been no update on a timeline for rescheduling at the time of this report.

The Mavericks were last on the floor on Sunday night against the Portland Trailblazers, falling 121-118 at the American Airlines Center, despite 44 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds from Luka Doncic.
