After catching his breath on Saturday, Troy Weaver was back to work on Sunday.
The Pistons have acquired former first-round pick Zhaire Smith from the 76ers in exchange for center Tony Bradley, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
A 6'3 shooting guard, Smith was drafted 16th overall in 2018. But a broken foot that summer preceded a life-threatening allergic reaction that fall that left him speechless for a time and cost him 40 pounds. He didn't return to the court until March.
Smith wound up playing six games for the 76ers in 2018-19, then seven in 2019-20. He showed some of his potential as a rookie, averaging 6.7 points and shooting 38 percent from three in limited action off the bench.
It's another flyer on upside for Weaver and the Pistons. The team also acquired former third overall pick Jahlil Okafor and former fourth overall Josh Jackson on Friday. Smith is just 21 years old.
Bradley was acquired from the Jazz in the draft-night trade that netted the Pistons a second-round pick, which they used to select Vanderbilt guard Saben Lee.
