DETROIT, MI — The Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets are collaborating to host the first-ever dual "Twin Night" theme nights on Monday, Jan. 1 at Toyota Center and Friday, Jan. 12 at Little Caesars Arena.
The collaboration, which is the first of its kind in the NBA, is in celebration of twin brothers Ausar and Amen Thompson, who became the first siblings to be selected top-10 in the same NBA Draft. Ausar was selected with the fifth overall pick by Detroit, while Amen was selected by the Rockets with the fourth overall pick.
Twin Night for both teams will feature giveaways of interlocking bobbleheads of Ausar and Amen Thompson, with each game's set outfitted in the uniforms the players will wear on that respective night. The first 5,000 fans at the Detroit Pistons home contest on Jan. 12 will receive the one-of-a-kind bobblehead presented by Bally Sports.
The Pistons will carry out theme night activations throughout their contest on Jan. 12, including an anthem performance by the twin sister duo of Jaida and Jessica Turner as well as a halftime performance by Ain't Afraid, a twin act raised in the Motor City. The Pistons will also offer a "Twin Night" ticket offer which includes a ticket to the game on Jan. 12, the Thompson twin bobblehead and access to a post-game experience with Ausar and Amen. Tickets can be purchased at Pistons.com/twinnight.
Ausar is averaging 10.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steal in 20 games with the Pistons. He is one of just four players in NBA history with at least 200 points, 180 rebounds, 50 assists, 25 blocks and 20 steals through 20 games, joining Chris Webber, Alvan Adams and Bill Walton.
