Pistons sign college star Anthony Lamb – who wants to make 'immediate impact'

Anthony Lamb became a star at Vermont. He'll hope to continue his rise in Detroit.

The Pistons have signed the two-time America East Player of the Year after he went undrafted, according to Yahoo! Sports.

A 6'6 forward, Lamb averaged 18.9 points and 7.4 rebounds over his final two seasons at Vermont. He was also named to the America East All-Defense team as a junior.

He told HoopsHype this summer that his experience will give him a chance to make an immediate impact in the NBA.

"You can say whatever you want about me being older. Whatever. I'm 22 years old. I'm ready to win games, I'm ready to make an impact right away," he said. "My experience at Vermont and my track record shows that."

For those who question Lamb's quality of competition at Vermont, one of his best games last season was a 30-point performance on the road against the defending national champs. He went 7-14 from three.

"I know everybody needs somebody that can guard, everybody needs somebody that can space the floor," he said. "So that's the immediate impact I can give to any team that picks me or gives me the chance."

As far as comparisons go, Lamb said he been's likened frequently to Rockets forward P.J. Tucker.

"I know I can do a lot of what he does," Lamb said. "People tell me he plays really strong, he makes three-pointers, he spreads the floor with space. He is able to guard one through five. That is something I know I can do."
