The Pistons didn’t wait too long to get active as NBA free agency got underway on Thursday.

Hours after the Pistons reportedly re-signed big man Marvin Bagley to a three-year, $37 million deal, it looks like forward Kevin Knox is on his way to Detroit.

Knox, who turns 23 later this year, will sign on a reported two-year, $6 million deal, according to The Athletic.

Knox, a former top-10 pick out of Kentucky, hasn’t been quite the lottery hit the Knicks were hoping to get when they drafted him in 2018.

The 6-foot-7 versatile forward had a solid rookie campaign with New York, averaging 12.8 points, but his production dropped way off after that. Knox has career averages of 7.7 PPG, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists, while shooting under 37% from the field in less than 20 minutes per game.

But after being traded to Atlanta last season, where he saw limited game time, Detroit GM Troy Weaver may be hoping Knox is his latest turnaround project.

It seemed to work out well with Bagley. Weaver traded for the Kings’ former 2nd overall pick last season after his numbers started to decline in his fourth season.

Bagley turned things around after arriving in Detroit, putting up 14.6 PPG and 6.8 RPG in 18 games with the Pistons.

Weaver has also taken chances on other former lottery picks, with acquisitions of Josh Jackson and Jahlil Okafor during his three-year tenure in Detroit.

The move comes a day after the Pistons acquired fellow former Knicks Nerlens Noel and Alec Burkes, as well as two second-round picks and cash. The trade amounted to a salary dump for New York, who on Thursday signed Mavs guard Jalen Brunson to a deal reportedly worth $104 million.
