The last time the Pistons had two players earn All-Rookie honors was 2012-13: Andre Drummond and Kyle Singler both made the second team.
The last time they had two players earn All-Rookie honors with at least one earning first-team honors was 1981-82: Isaiah Thomas and Kelly Tripuka both made the first team.
Those droughts are over.
Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart were named to the 2020-21 NBA All-Rookie teams on Thursday, with Bey earning first-team honors and Stewart making the second team.
Bey, Detroit's first rookie to make the first team since Brandon Knight in 2011-12, garnered the fourth most votes overall after Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball of the Hornets, Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves and Tyrese Halliburton of the Kings. They were joined on the first team by Jae’Sean Tate of the Rockets.
The 19th overall pick in last year's draft, opposing GM's pegged Bey as a 'steal.' They were right. He averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from three in 70 games. His 175 three-pointers set a franchise rookie record and were the third most by any rookie in NBA history. He had 12 games with at least 20 points.
Stewart said he was "the biggest sleeper" in the draft before going 16th overall to the Pistons. He might have been right, too. He led all rookies in rebounding, blocks and offensive rebounds per game. He also set a franchise rookie record by collecting at least two blocks in six straight games.
Stewart was joined on the second team by Immanuel Quickley of the Knicks, Desmond Bane of the Grizzlies, Isaac Okoro of the Cavaliers and Patrick Williams of the Bulls.
