Tensions could run high for Warriors-Grizzlies Western Conference semis

The No. 3 seed Warriors will head to No. 2 Memphis for their Western Conference semifinals matchup against the Grizzlies. Tip-off for Game 1 is set for 12:30 p.m. PT on Sunday at FedEx Forum and you can hear the action on 95.7 The Game, radio home of the Golden State Warriors.

Golden State secured its bid to the next round by closing out the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 at Chase Center, as Gary Payton II played the final 15 minutes of the game and Steph Curry dropped 30 points to lead the Dubs.

The Grizzlies used a strong fourth quarter to finish off the pesky Minnesota Timberwolves 114-106 Friday night. Many people – including outspoken Warriors forward Draymond Green – felt like the Timberwolves could have won the series.

95.7 The Game's John Dickinson shared the full series schedule, with the series returning to San Francisco next Saturday, May 7:

Now Ja Morant and the Grizzlies will have a quick turnaround before hosting the Dubs. There's sure to be some high emotions, especially after the reception Andre Iguodala got from Memphis last month. Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks also caused a stir with his comments toward Iguodala, saying that Memphis was "building this dynasty."

The Warriors, of course, won three titles while making five straight Finals trips from 2015-19. If the Grizzlies want to make their first Finals trip in franchise history, they'll have to get through the Dubs' championship-tested core. Likewise, Golden State is sure to face stiff test from Memphis, which bounced the Warriors last season in the play-in game.

Memphis won the season series 3-1, but the Dubs' dynasty trio of Curry, Draymond and Klay Thompson never appeared in any of the four games together. Iguodala (neck) is expected to be re-evaluated early next week, but will likely miss the first couple games of the series at least.
