Coming off one of the worst seasons in franchise history and with the most losses in the NBA over the last seven years, the Pistons need to make some bold moves this summer, says Mike Valenti. Starting Thursday night in the NBA Draft:

"I can't sit here and allow guys to be in endless rebuilds. I understand Cade didn't play last year, but this has got to be a bold summer for the Pistons. Monty Williams can't be the biggest signing."

Recent reports suggest the Pistons are zeroing in on Houston forward Jarace Walker with the No. 5 pick, to which Valenti says, "He can't shoot. He's an athlete, he's rangy, but you pair him with Jalen Duren, that's not how modern ball is played."

"I think we're resigned to fate and resigned to this team being in no rush and using the fifth pick in a terrible draft."

The Pistons have reportedly been getting trade calls on the No. 5 pick, and Troy Weaver said Tuesday he's open to all opportunities to "maximize the team."

But Valenti is worried the Pistons are "going to sit there at 5, smartest guy in the room, they're going to draft an ill-prepared 19 year old and then at pick 31 maybe do some of their trade magic to acquire a B-minus or C- plus player, and that's it. And we go into the offseason and I'm terrified, because we have cap space but I don't know how going to use it."
