Fans of the Red Wings might want to plan a trip to Grand Rapids. Three of the organization's top-ranked prospects are slated to join the Griffins for the rest of the season.
The Wings announced Tuesday that they have signed Carter Mazur to a three-year, entry-level deal beginning next season and that the goal-scoring winger will report to Grand Rapids on an amateur tryout for the remainder of this year.
Mazur, a third-round pick in 2021, just finished fifth in the nation with 22 goals in his sophomore season at the University of Denver. He was the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Year last season when he helped the Pioneers win the national championship.
He will likely be joined in Grand Rapids by 2022 first-round pick Marco Kasper and 2020 second-round pick William Wallinder, who are coming stateside after their Swedish Hockey League club Rogle saw its season come to an end last weekend.
