Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has been gone from the team this week after heartbreaking news for his family.
He and his wife Kenzy lost a child, Larkin announced Friday on Instagram. It would have been the couple's first. They were married this summer.
"This week my wife and I said goodbye to our baby," Larkin wrote. "It’s hard to find words or positivity in this, but we greatly appreciate your support and understanding, and thank you for respecting our privacy."
Larkin was absent from the Wings' 3-2 loss to the Rangers on Wednesday and their 5-1 win over the Blackhawks on Thursday.
He's expected to return to the lineup Saturday night against the Canadiens, per head coach Derek Lalonde.
