The Kansas City Royals might suck at baseball, but they seemingly know their place as the caboose of the AL Central. None of the division's other four teams, meanwhile, can make up their minds.
BetMGM bettors agree on both counts: The Royals suck, while the Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, and Chicago White Sox are heedless co-conductors of a rusted steam engine transporting manure to a burning pit in hell.
The Guardians dominated offseason AL Central betting at the online sportsbook; they entered Opening Day at +120 in division-winner odds and had nearly 60% of the handle.
Guardians (+120): 59.2%
Twins (+200): 9.3%
White Sox (+250): 19.2%
Royals (+3000): 7.4%
Tigers (+3000): 4.9%
But a 13-15 start and 3.5-game deficit cooled the public's interest in Cleveland to win a second straight division title. Their April handle share was nearly 27 percentage points lower (32.9%) than their offseason handle share.
Twins (-130): 39.4%
Guardians (+145): 32.9%
White Sox (+700): 17.7%
Tigers (+5000): 8%
Royals (+10000): 1.9%
The Guardians' share plummeted again in May, as did the Twins' share, while the Tigers and White Sox became popular division-winner picks as they posted records of 16-11 and 15-14, respectively, for the month.
Tigers (+2000): 45.4%
White Sox (+1000): 38%
Guardians (+375): 14.2%
Royals (+20000): 1.4%
Twins (-300): 1%
Interest in Cleveland has returned in June with the Guardians on pace to lead the division in handle share as they battle the Twins for the honor of becoming the first sub-.500 division champion in MLB history.
Guardians (+375): 38.8%
White Sox (+800): 29.8%
Tigers (+900): 28.6%
Twins (-225): 1.7%
