Jackson Jobe's second season with the Tigers might be over before it began.

The club announced Thursday that its top prospect is out for three to six months due to lumbar spine inflammation. The 20-year-old pitcher had reported discomfort in his lower spine while throwing earlier in spring training.

Now he won't throw again until at least June, the earliest that he could begin a return-to-play program.

The third overall pick in 2021, Jobe made 21 starts across Low-A and High-A last year, posting a 3.84 ERA in his first professional season.

The Tigers also reported bad news on Dillon Dingler, their top catching prospect. Dingler underwent a knee procedure this week and will miss the next four weeks.
