The Tigers have finalized their roster for their Wild Card series against the Astros, starting Tuesday afternoon in Houston. The 26-man roster consists of 12 pitchers and 14 position players. Tarik Skubal will start Game 1 for Detroit, against fellow lefty Framber Valdez of the Astros.
The Tigers' roster is below, along with Tuesday's lineup.
Right-handed Pitchers: Beau Brieske, Jason Foley, Brenan Hanifee, Jackson Jobe, Ty Madden, Casey Mize, Reese Olson, Will Vest
Left-handed Pitchers: Tyler Holton, Sean Guenther, Brant Hurter, Tarik Skubal
Position Players: Kerry Carpenter, Dillon Dingler, Riley Greene, Andy Ibáñez, Jace Jung, Colt Keith, Justyn-Henry Malloy, Zach McKinstry, Parker Meadows, Wenceel Pérez, Jake Rogers, Trey Sweeney, Spencer Torkelson, Matt Vierling
The Tigers loaded the top of their lineup against Valdez with righties. Riley Greene is the only pure left-handed hitter in the top six. Righties hit .252 against Valdez this season, compared to .214 for lefties.
Neither Kerry Carpenter nor Colt Keith is in the lineup, with Wenceel Perez starting in right field and Andy Ibañez starting at second.
