Miguel Cabrera’s final homestand at Comerica Park got off to a slow start Tuesday night, as he went 0-for-3 with a walk in the series opener against the Royals.

As a party atmosphere awaits at the weekend with ceremonies and giveaways, Cabrera got a jump start on the festivities Wednesday night.

Cabrera took the first pitch he saw from Jonathan Bowlan in the second inning and sent it 397 feet to right-center field.

It was Cabrera’s fourth home run of the season and the 511th of his career, tying him with Mel Ott for 25th all-time.

It was his 373rd in a Detroit uniform, tying him for second in franchise history with Norm Cash. Al Kaline's top mark of 399 will remain out of reach.

If Miggy manages to homer again this weekend when the Tigers host the Guardians in the final series of the season, he would tie himself with Ernie Banks and Eddie Matthews.
