Miguel Cabrera isn’t hitting bombs like he used to, but the milestones still continue to fall.
Miggy’s latest milestone came Tuesday night at Comerica Park as he collected his 3,141st career hit, tying him with Padres legend Tony Gwynn for 20th all-time on MLB’s hit list.
The hit came off a 2-2 pitch from Sonny Gray in the fourth inning, as Cabrera went to the opposite field as he so often has throughout his career.
Winding down the last two months of his historic career, Cabrera didn't wait long to check the next one off his list. An eighth-inning single up the middle tied him with Milwaukee Brewers lifer Robin Yount and Paul Waner.
The next names ahead of Cabrera on the all-time hits list include George Brett (3,154), Adrian Beltre (3,166) and Cal Ripken, Jr. (3,184) at No. 15.
Detroit went on to blank Minnesota 6-0 on a day the Tigers mourn the loss of 1968 World Series champion and longtime radio analyst Jim Price.
