Parker Meadows Headlines New Group Of Prospects In Tigers' Player Pool

More reinforcements for the big-league club.

Should they need them in Detroit, the Tigers are summoning more reinforcements to Toledo.

The club announced Thursday that it has added four prospects, headlined by outfielder Parker Meadows, to its 60-man player pool for the stretch run of the season.

Meadows, selected by the Tigers with with the first pick in the second round of the 2018 draft, ranks No. 13 among the club's top 30 prospects. He's a terrific athlete who's regarded highly within the organization.

General manager Al Avila had this to say about Meadows last spring: "He's a true five-tool player. He's 6'5, runs like a deer and has power. A true centerfielder. He's a kid that can come fast -- we're hoping so. He can be a very special player, so we're pretty excited about him."

That said, Meadows likely isn't bound for Detroit this season. He finished last season in A-ball. But the 20-year-old can get some good work in Toledo alongside some of the Tigers' other top prospects.

The Tigers also added RHP's Alex Lange, Logan Shore and Jason Foley to their 60-man player pool. The former two boast intriguing pedigree.

Lange, 24, was a first-round pick of the Cubs in 2017, acquired by the Tigers in last year's Nicholas Castellanos trade. He went on to post a 3.45 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings for Double-A Erie.

Shore, 25, was a second-round pick of the A's in 2016, acquired by the Tigers in the Mike Fiers trade in 2018. He recorded a 3.43 ERA over 23 appearances (16 starts) last season for Double-A Erie.

Foley, 24, has a 3.29 ERA and more than a strikeout per inning over three seasons in the low minors. He was signed by the Tigers in 2016.
