Survey shows PAWS ranks first in AL Central – and second in baseball

Once upon a time, the Tigers were kings of the AL Central.

Their mascot, PAWS, remains at the top of the food chain.

According to a survey of more than 2,000 MLB fans conducted by Play USA, PAWS is the most popular mascot in the Tigers' division -- and the second most popular in the majors.

Fans were asked to rate all 27 big-league mascots on a scale of one to five. PAWS garnered an average score of 3.8, topped only by Chicago's Clark the Cub.

Dinger of the Rockies, T.C. Bear of the Twins and Baltimore's Oriole Bird rounded out the top five.

The worst mascot? That would be Cleveland's very own Slider, a pink and yellow creature inspired by the Phillie Phanatic. Hey, we'll take our wins over the Indians however we can get them.

And while we're here, Southpaw of the White Sox also ranked in the bottom five.
