The Tigers dropped their sixth straight game Thursday, despite taking a late lead after staving off a no-hit bid by Zack Wheeler. Former Tiger Kody Clemens snatched a 3-2 walk-off win for the Phillies, ending Detroit’s road trip winless.

The Tigers were five outs away from finding themselves on the wrong end of a no-hitter for the first time in 10 years.

That was until Tyler Nevin ended Wheeler’s bid with a one-out single in the eighth inning to move Jake Marisnick to third base after he pinch-ran for Jonathan Schoop, who reached on an error.

Two pitches later, a squeeze bunt by Zack Short scored the tying run and the Tigers went on to take the lead in the ninth when Nick Maton singled to score Javier Baez.

Alex Lange gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning.

The last time the Tigers were no-hit was the final day of the 2013 regular season when Miami walked off on a wild pitch after Henderson Alvarez’s one-walk gem.

Lange blew his second save of the season. Reese Olson allowed one run in five innings of work after entering in the second inning, following a scoreless first by opener Tyler Holton.
