After leaving Monday night’s start at Texas with elbow discomfort, Tigers pitcher Matthew Boyd’s season has been cut short.

The 32-year-old left-hander has a partial sprain of his UCL and has elected to undergo Tommy John Surgery.

The club announced Tuesday he has been placed on the 60-day IL, while Will Vest – who also left Monday’s game with an injury – was placed on the 15-day IL with a lower leg strain.

In corresponding moves, the Tigers recalled lefty Anthony Misiewicz from Triple-A Toledo and reinstated RHP Matt Manning from the 60-day IL.

Manning will start Tuesday against the Rangers.

Boyd, a nine-year MLB vet, was signed to a one-year, $10 million last offseason.
