The Tigers are now set for an extra busy day prior to Friday’s home opener after a second straight rainout in New York.
Wednesday night’s game at Citi Field against the Mets has been postponed, a day after Tuesday’s game was also rained out.
The Tigers and Mets are scheduled to play an “old fashioned” doubleheader Thursday afternoon with the first game at 12:10 p.m. and the second set to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener.
Casey Mize was set to make his long-awaited return to the Big Leagues Tuesday night after being sidelined since April 2022 due to Tommy John Surgery and a back operation.
He will start the first game of the DH, while Matt Manning will be called up from Toledo to make the start in the second game.
