Through five games, Tigers fans were flying high. It felt good to see wins, even if the offense wasn’t exactly a bright spot.

In the four games since, Detroit’s bats have largely gone dormant, aside from Friday’s 5-4 Opening Day win.

Those problems persisted over the weekend as Detroit was blanked 4-0 Saturday and put up just one run Sunday against one of the worst teams in baseball.

The Athletics beat Detroit 7-1 Sunday at Comerica Park, jumping on Jack Flaherty for six runs on nine hits across six innings.

The Tigers were unable to get to Joe Boyle, who allowed 7 earned runs in 2.2 innings against the Red Sox his last time out.

Detroit’s lone run of the game Sunday came courtesy of a Riley Greene solo home run in the 8th inning, his third of the year.

The Tigers hit the road Monday to open a two-game set with the Pirates before returning to Detroit for a four-game series with the Twins.
