The Tigers acquired Daniel Norris from the Blue Jays in 2015 as the centerpiece of the David Price trade.

Six years later, they're trading him for a pitcher in A-ball.

Detroit dealt Norris to the Brewers in exchange for prospect Reese Olson a few hours before Friday's 4 p.m. trade deadline, per multiple reports.

Norris, widely considered one of the top 25 prospects in baseball entering 2015, never put it together in Detroit. He battled injuries and inconsistency and was ultimately moved from the rotation to the bullpen.

Norris thrived in his relief role fit last season and seemed poised to build on that in 2021. But he logged a 5.89 ERA in 38 appearances this season and the Tigers finally cut bait.

In Olson, Detroit's getting a 21-year-old right-hander who has a 4.30 ERA in 14 High-A starts this season. He's racked up 79 strikeouts in 69 innings, though he's not ranked among Milwaukee's top 30 prospects per MLB Pipeline.
