UPDATE (8:41PM ET): Several sources have confirmed that DMX is still on life support. Murray Richman, DMX's lawyer, spoke with Rolling Stone saying he was "given the wrong information" earlier this evening. TMZ is reporting that a family member of DMX is stating "it's not looking good," after paramedics tried to resuscitate for 30 minutes, in which he was deprived of oxygen. The lack of oxygen has "severely impacted" his brain. The publication is also reporting that the rapper's children are en route to him.

UPDATE (7:00PM ET): It's being reported by DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, via PIX11 News, that the rapper has been taken off of life support and is breathing on his own.

Richman confirmed that DMX was in the hospital, due to a heart attack. However, Richman also expressed, "...we are concerned. It would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I'm not a worried man, at this particular point." Original report below.

DMX is currently in critical condition after suffering from a heart attack triggered by a drug overdose, as reported by TMZ. The news outlet states the overdose occurred Friday night (Apr. 2) around 11PM.

The rapper was rushed to a hospital in upstate New York and is in the critical care unit. Sources tell TMZ that he has "some brain activity," while another source reports he is in a "vegetative state." Doctors have cautioned that he may not make it.

Over the years, the Ruff Ryders legend has been transparent about his journey with substance abuse and overcoming it. He last entered rehab in October 2019 to honor his "commitment to putting [his] family and sobriety first," amid his release from prison for tax evasion. Recently, he has been reportedly working on a new album with longtime collaborator and friend, Swizz Beatz, and appeared on VERZUZ last July, alongside Snoop Dogg. Our thoughts and prayers are with DMX at this time.
