Draymond Green doesn't need any extra motivation this postseason. After missing the playoffs the past two seasons, Green wants to add a fourth championship to his resume along with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
The idea of more bragging material against Charles Barkley doesn't hurt Draymond, though.
During Thursday's media session with reporters ahead of Friday night's Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, Draymond discussed his relationship with The Chuckster, who has rubbed Dub Nation the wrong way by comparing San Francisco to "hell." At TNT's set outside of Chase Center for Game 1, Barkley shouted a very NSFW response to the heckling crowd, so he might be public enemy No. 1 right now for Warriors fans.
Green joined TNT as the NBA's first ever player-broadcaster this season. Aside from the Warriors, he said he would love to win another championship for the "Inside the NBA" crew.
"If I win one more championship, that's one more ring added to the panel that's not him (Barkley)," Green said. "I wouldn't wanna see that either. Then you really gotta hear about it. I get it. I understand. I don't know how that feels. I always won. I don't know how that feels. I'd guess I'd feel the same way if y'all keep adding rings up here and I just gotta sit here."
As Draymond noted, the TNT panel is filled with NBA championship experience. Shaquille O'Neal won four rings, Kenny Smith won two, Dwyane Wade won three and Draymond has three. Barkley, of course, remains one of basketball's greatest players who never won a championship.
"When the playoffs come around, what are you gonna say?" Green said. "Are you gonna tell us how to win? Not taking that advice from Chuck. What's he gonna say."
Green and Barkley have had a notable relationship over the years. Things were on ice when Barkley said he wanted to punch Draymond in the face in 2018, but the two have become friends. Now they're co-workers and the trash talk will be happening for years to come.
"He's saying, 'I'm gonna come get ya momma if you keep talking junk to me, because y'all won,'" Green said, referring to Barkley's NSFW crowd comment after Game 1. "All right, go ahead, Chuck. That's my dog, though. I love Chuck."
