As of Monday morning, Bill Belichick is still the head coach of the New England Patriots. That relationship has recently been rumored to be on thin ice, and if Belichick were to become available, Steak Shapiro says the Falcons would be crazy not to at least give him a call.
The Atlanta Falcons made the decision to move on from Arthur Smith after the humiliating loss to the New Orleans Saints and third straight 7-10 season. Dianna Russini, who's a senior NFL Insider for The Athletic, is reporting Atlanta is a "team to watch" if Belichick and the Patriots part ways.
"You and I mentioned Bill Belichick, why not? They will 100 percent make that phone call," Butler exclaimed.
"If you're not at least talking to Bill Belichick," replied Steak. "He hasn't had a great run post-Brady and he's made some bad decisions. Ok? Do you think every Tom Brady Super Bowl was because of Tom Brady?"
The Patriots were one of the most dominant franchises in NFL history with the Brady-Belichick tandem, winning six Super Bowls, nine AFC Championships, and 17 AFC East titles. He is 16 wins away from passing Don Shula as the winningest coach in NFL history.
Despite the recent struggles, he remains one of the most brilliant defensive coaches in the league today.
If the Patriots do decide to move on from the Hall of Fame coach, then there could be a host of franchises that have interest. The Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Las Vegas Raiders will all be in the market for a head coach.
