This season featured more doubt around the Chiefs than they’ve experienced in a long time. And yet, they’re back in the same spot.

Kansas City punched its ticket to the Super Bowl on Sunday with an AFC Championship win over the top-seeded Ravens. There were plenty of doubts about the Chiefs heading into the postseason, centered largely around their talent at the skill positions. But they’ve put everything together this postseason, and so far have dispatched three hugely talented teams in the Dolphins, Bills and Ravens.

Now, they’re headed to their fourth Super Bowl in five years after a sixth straight trip to the AFC Championship.

Bob Fescoe said Monday on Fescoe in the Morning that the Chiefs, thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, are a dynasty.

“It was an amazing run by this team," Fescoe said. "All the freak-outs, all the consternation, all the worry, all of that – here we are sitting in the Super Bowl again because of Patrick Mahomes and because of Andy Reid. I know there are people out there who want to debate about the dynasty and talk about is this the best, and all that nonsense. Just stop. It’s a dynasty. It’s a team that is probably going to be looked back in years to come as better than anybody thought.

“I don’t want to say this is just getting started, but where Patrick Mahomes is in his career, and the synergy that he and Andy Reid and Travis Kelce and Brett Veach and Chris Jones and all these guys have had -- as long as Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are here, they’re going to figure this out.

“This was by far the hardest season for Chiefs fans under Patrick Mahomes, probably as hard of a season as it was for Patrick Mahomes as for anybody. The limited weapons that everybody talked about all year, and they’re still in the Super Bowl. Because Patrick Mahomes is f-ing good.”

The Chiefs’ playoff run has been impressive. Punctuating it with a Super Bowl win over a 49ers team that arguably was the best in the NFL wire-to-wire this season would no doubt go a long way in solidifying this run as one of the best in league history.
