When Brixton Woods was undergoing arduous days filled with uncomfortable treatments in the hospital in the hopes of overcoming leukemia, the young boy’s spirits were lifted by his love of sports, specifically his favorite football team.
His parents adorned his hospital room in the colors of the Cincinnati Bengals, and more than anything, Woods hoped he could make it through his treatments and meet his favorite player, one with strong ties to south Louisiana.
As featured in an emotional feature on ESPN, Woods did make it through to the other side of those treatments and beat leukemia. And he did get to spend a day with his favorite football star: former LSU standout Ja’Marr Chase.
Woods got to attend a Bengals practice, get into the team’s huddle, and catch a pass that he ran 99 yards for a touchdown.
And he got some coveted one-on-one time with Chase, even joining him for the famous touchdown dance made famous at LSU: The Griddy.
