CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - This weekend will mark one year since a White Sox fan  was shot and wounded during a game at Guaranteed Rate Field, and now, the victim is taking legal action.

There was plenty of talk about the incident that occurred on Aug. 25 ballgame between the Sox and Oakland A’s. In the 4th inning, Chicago Police said a 42-year-old woman, sitting in the right field bleachers, was shot in the leg.

Some suggested the boy came from outside the stadium. Others predicted the woman smuggled the gun into the park and accidently shot herself.

The unidentified woman is now suing the White Sox, the concessions operator and the State’s Sports Facility Authority which owns Guaranteed Rate Field.

Her attorney argues in a statement, “Our client, an innocent attendee, suffered serious injuries as a result of a failure to take property security measures.”

The lawsuit seeks at least $50,000 in damages.
