Former Eagle Haason Reddick has requested a trade from the New York Jets before ever playing a snap, according to Ian Rapoport.
Reddick, 29, was traded from the Eagles to the Jets on April 1st for a conditional third-round pick. At the time, many Eagles fans and media questioned the decision by Howie Roseman to trade, arguably, the team's best defensive player.
Reddick, who has been holding out of Jets training camp, is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles, where he has a base salary of $14.25 million and no guaranteed money after 2024.
When asked by the Jets media on April 1st about his contract situation, Reddick said, "All options are open."
Ross Tucker predicted on June 17th that Reddick will not play for the New York Jets in 2024 without a new deal and Tucker does not blame him.
"I said this back when they made the trade and I am going to stand by this, he is not playing for 14 million dollars this year," Tucker said on the 94WIP Morning Show. "He is not doing it. I don't blame him, he shouldn't do it. Nick Bosa makes 32 million dollars a year. Why should Haason Reddick be playing the last year of his deal for less than half of what he's worth? He should be able to get, easily, between 26 and 28 million. And let me say this, if the Eagles thought that Reddick would be willing to play for 14 or 15, whatever it is this year, he'd still be an Eagle because they'd have him for this year and then when he went somewhere else they would have gotten a compensatory pick."
Reddick recorded 11.0 sacks in 2023 and a career-high 16.0 in 2022 with the Eagles. In 2021, Reddick had 11.0 sacks with the Panthers and in 2020 he recorded 12.5 sacks with the Cardinals.
