Jon Lyons and Nick “Fitzy” Stevens co-hosted The Rich Keefe Show on Monday night and came on the air right after the news of Ezekiel Elliott signing with the Patriots broke. The guys discussed what Zeke has left in the tank and how he fits into the Patriots offense.
“We’re not looking for Zeke to come in and rush for 1,000 yards like [Rhamondre] Stevenson or be part of a true two-headed monster where they are both totally dynamic,” Lyons said. “I think as a complementary piece, I liked the signing a lot. He had 12 touchdowns and was effective in the red zone and this is a Patriots team that was last in the red zone last year and 27th in third-down percentage.”
Added Fitzy: “Four million dollars to spare the legs of Rhamondre and add an excellent pass blocker and just provide veteran presence…just give me somebody who doesn’t have ball security issues and can get it done around the goal line.”
Lyons and Fitzy went on to discuss how the Patriots will use Elliott, how he can be most valuable for them, and why his fit might be better than if the team had signed Dalvin Cook. Listen to the full clip below for the entire discussion:
