Right after the season ended, Zach Wilson went viral by saying he would make life “hell in practice” for whatever veteran quarterback the Jets brought in to take his starting spot.
Turns out, that quarterback is future Hall of Famer and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, who had some fun with that quote when he was introduced by Gang Green on Wednesday.
“He’s going to make my life hell in practice,” Rodgers said with a smile. “And I’m going to make his life heaven off the field.”
Rodgers has been a mentor to Wilson since he was drafted No. 2 overall, but Wilson’s struggles through two NFL seasons necessitated the Jets making a big splash for Rodgers, who also liked a tweet on Monday poking fun at Wilson’s quote, with the reply, “Welcome to hell, Aaron Rodgers.”
It’s all in good fun from Rodgers, who will hope to help Wilson find his way during his time with the Jets.
“Part of my goal here is to help him get his confidence back,” Rodgers said.
