Justin Wilson has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Yankees, and no one is happier – and perhaps more confused – than Justin Wilson.
Confused as well? Let us explain: the Wilson the Yankees have agreed to terms with is a 33-year-old southpaw who spent the last two seasons with the Mets, and also pitched in the Bronx in 2015 – but the Yankees also have another Justin Wilson, a righty they selected in the 2018 Draft.
Just to clear it up even further, that Wilson took to Twitter to differentiate himself from the other one:
The younger Wilson, 24, is a right-hander who was selected out of Vanderbilt in the 23rd round in 2018. He spent that season at Advanced Rookie-level Pulaski and then split 2019 between the GCL and Staten Island, and owns a 3.38 ERA in 37 1/3 career innings between three affiliates, two of which no longer exist – with the 2021 re-organization of the Minors, Staten Island ceased operations while Pulaski joined the rest of the Appalachian League in transforming into a collegiate Summer wood-bat league.
