Kevin Durant apologized for his online exchange with Michael Rapoport that included homophobic slurs and profanity, and the NBA has dealt out a punishment of $50,000.
Durant was fined by the league on Friday for his social media feud with the actor Rapoport according to Adrian Wojnarowski, after Rapoport posted private messages between himself and Durant, with the Nets star using threatening language and ant-gay slurs.
Durant spoke publicly for the first time since the incident following Brooklyn's win over the Hornets on Thursday night, apologizing for his comments.
"I'm sorry that people seen that language I used," Durant said. "That's not really what I want people to see and hear from me, but hopefully I can move past it and get back out there on the floor."
Head coach Steve Nash said the team addressed the issue with Durant privately.
In a statement on Friday, the league announced the fine for "offensive and derogatory language on social media.
Durant has been out for the past seven weeks with a hamstring strain, but expects to return to play soon.
