The topic has been debated for some time as Kirk Cousins has struggled under center for over a month for the Falcons. In a statement Tuesday night, Atlanta announced Michael Penix Jr. will move forward as the team's starting quarterback.

“After review we have made the decision Michael Penix Jr. will be the Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback moving forward," Atlanta's head coach said. "This was a football decision and we are fully focused on preparing the team for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.”

Cousins has thrown for 3,508 yards with 18 touchdowns in 14 games this season, but his numbers of late has been off. He has one touchdown and nine interceptions in his last five games, and the Falcons have not been in position to win many of those contests.
