Two days after suspending four players for attacking two Michigan players in the tunnel at the Big House following Michigan State's loss to Michigan last Saturday, Mel Tucker has suspended four more -- including star linebacker Jacoby Windmon.
Windmon was seen in video holding up Michigan's Gemon Green while fellow Spartan Khary Crump bashed Green in the head with what appeared to be his helmet. Green, who reportedly suffered a concussed, has hired a lawyer and is pressing criminal charges.
The other three Spartans suspended Tuesday are senior defensive end Brandon Wright, junior cornerback Justin White and freshman cornerback Malcolm Jones. Both Wright and White have played in all eight games this season for MSU. Windmon, a transfer from UNLV, leads the team in sacks, tackles for loss and leads the country with six forced fumbles.
Tucker made the announcement Tuesday afternoon in a joint statement with MSU director of athletics Alan Haller and indicated that more discipline could be coming. University of Michigan police are still investigating the incident.
"We are transparently working with law enforcement and the Big Ten Conference to evaluate additional facts and evidence surrounding the events in Ann Arbor," the statement read. "We will continue to take appropriate action in this matter as we learn more."
On Sunday, Tucker suspended Crump, a sophomore cornerback, along with sophomore linebacker Tank Brown, junior safety Angelo Grose and freshman defensive end Zion Young.
