Big-time college basketball is set to return to Detroit this December.
Amid rumors of Michigan State adding Baylor to its non-conference schedule, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported Tuesday that the Spartans and Bears 'are finalizing an agreement' to meet Saturday, Dec. 16 at Little Caesars Arena.
For Michigan State, which brings back a loaded roster to go with a top-five recruiting class, it represents yet another juicy non-con matchup. Tom Izzo and the Spartans, ranked No. 4 in ESPN's Way Too Early Top 25, also tip off the season against Duke (ranked No. 2) in Chicago and take on Arizona (No. 11) on Thanksgiving Day in Palm Springs, Calif.
Michigan State's last game at LCA was a win over Oakland in December of 2021. Its last time playing Baylor was a 75-58 loss to the then-defending national champs in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship in 2021. It also lost to Baylor in the same event in 2016.
