Fitzpatrick is the second Steelers player to test positive for COVID in the last three days, joining quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was confirmed positive on Saturday and did not play in Sunday’s game.

The All-Pro safety will be placed on the COVID-19 reserve list where he must remain util he clears all protocols.

Fitzpatrick’s vaccination status could determine whether or not he is back in time to play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

If vaccinated and asymptomatic, Fitzpatrick would need to produce two negative test results 24 hours apart before being cleared to play. If unvaccinated, he is required to isolate for 10 days before being eligible to return.

Roethlisberger’s status for Sunday is also still in question. Although he is vaccinated, he remains within the 10-day window of having to produce the two negative tests in order to be cleared to play.
