The Dallas Stars had 17 players test positive for the coronavirus

Training camps across the National Hockey League officially came to a close on Tuesday as all 31 teams were required to trim their rosters down to the maximum 23 players, as well as set their 4-6 man taxi squad as of 5 p.m. EST.

Shortly after each team made their required roster moves on Tuesday, the NHL released a statement with an update on COVID-19 testing results during the training camp period. In all, a total of 27 players tested positive for the coronavirus between Dec. 30, 2020 and Jan. 11, 2021.

Of the 27 players that tested positive for COVID-19 during this time period, 17 of those players are currently playing for the Dallas Stars. However, the league said in its statement that most of the players who tested positive were asymptomatic, and all of those players are recovering well without complication.

The NHL said that during the two-week period of testing, the league completed daily testing of its players with approximately 12,000 tests administered to around 1,200 players.
