We all love our sports teams. That’s why we watch. Many of us would do anything in our control to help them win.
And that’s exactly what the Oakland University men’s swim team did Saturday, taking the student section at “The O’rena” to a whole new level.
The Golden Grizzlies’ student section went viral over the weekend after trying out a new tactic to distract the other team’s free throw shooters — a makeshift barber shop.
Clips from the broadcast of Oakland’s 83-71 win over Cleveland State show the swim team, bearing nothing but Speedos taking turns getting their hair buzzed off and into a garbage bag.
And it worked like a charm, with Cleveland State shooting just 61% from the stripe, including three misses in the second half with the student shenanigans happening behind.
The Golden Grizzlies’ win on Saturday — their ninth in 10 games — keeps them tied with Green Bay atop the Horizon League standings at 10-3. Oakland’s Blake Lampman had a game-high 26 points for the second straight outing.
