The NFL has fined Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper $300,000 for tossing a drink at fans in Jacksonville from a luxury box toward the end of Sunday's game.

Tepper’s frustration followed a Jaguars interception of Carolina's rookie quarterback Bryce Young.

It wasn’t clear whether the Pittsburgh native was reacting to something a fan said or another loss for the NFL’s worst team.

Video shows Tepper showing the drink and then a person in a Jaguars jersey going toward the box before the video cuts off.

Carolina lost 26-0

The NFL released a statement Tuesday afternoon:

“The National Football League today fined Carolina Panthers’ chairman David Tepper $300,000 for his unacceptable conduct in Jacksonville during Sunday’s game. All NFL personnel are expected to conduct themselves at all times in ways that respect our fans and favorably reflect on their team and the NFL.”

Tepper also released a statement of his own:

"I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday. I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL’s code of conduct and accept the League’s discipline for my behavior."

The 66-year-old Tepper is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Carnegie Mellon University.

Before owning the Panthers, Tepper had a five percent stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
