The group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the UT Mascot to stay home today instead of appearing on the sidelines at the Cotton Bowl.

PETA reportedly sent a letter to the commissioner of the Southeast Conference Greg Sankey asking that Bevo, the University of Texas Longhorn mascot be banned from being at the Cotton Bowl College Football playoff game at AT&T Arlington Stadium on Friday. Texas is facing off against Ohio State in this semifinal. The winner will go on to play against Notre Dame.

PETA called it 'wildly iresponsible' to have Bevo there, citing the bright lights, noise and rowdy football fans as stressors for the steer. PETA also noted an instance at the 2019 Sugar Bowl where Bevo charged at Uga, the Georgia Bulldog mascot.

Bevo has been banned twice from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta due to space considerations last year.
