What a turn of events!
Just one day after Darius Slay said goodbye to Philadelphia on Twitter after news broke that the Eagles were set to release him, Slay will remain an Eagle, according to multiples reports.
At 11:05 p.m. E.T. on Wednesday night, Slay tweet this.
There was widespread debate following the news of Slay's release on Wednesday among Eagles fans, on 94WIP and social media, arguing about the decision to release Slay at 32-years-old, who was slated to count for $26 million against the cap in 2023 and reportedly asked for a three-year extension.
Keeping Slay is another milestone moment for an excellent offseason by Howie Roseman, who was able to also retain Brandon Graham (one-year, $14 million), Fletcher Cox (one-year, $10 million), Boston Scott (one-year, $2 million) and James Bradberry (three-years, $44 million) for relatively inexpensive price tags. Not to mention, the return of center Jason Kelce (one-year, $14.25 million).
Roseman's cap management has been lauded by the national media, as the Eagles' general manager continues to cement himself as one of the best GM's in the NFL.
The Eagles signed RB Rashaad Penny to a one-year deal worth up to about $2 million to replace RB Miles Sanders, who signed a four-year deal worth $25 million with the Carolina Panthers.
