Marcus Stroman was forced to hear some ignorant comments from Diamondbacks color commentator Bob Brenly on Tuesday night, but as the Mets pitcher showed on Twitter on Wednesday, it’s far from the worst that he has to see on a regular basis thanks to a few disgusting individuals.
After cricitizing Brenly for his “racist undertones” after the former manager made a comment about his doo rag, Stroman shared an appalling private Instagram message with extremely offensive language and threats from a profile that described himself as an employee of the United States Department of Defense.
WARNING: These messages include extremely offensive material
“Shout to everyone out there battling adversity daily and shining through it all,” Stroman said in his tweet. “I receive messages like this more often than y’all can comprehend.”
The heinous messages were in response to Stroman’s post after hearing Brenly’s comments, which Brenly has since issued a public apology for. But Brenly’s comments are clearly far from the worst that Stroman receives.
“To my young athletes out there who deal with this…never allow outside hate to sway your internal mentality,” Stroman wrote. “Rise above!”
