A fan during the Rockies-Marlins game at Coors Field was picked up by field mics uttering a racial slur toward Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson on Sunday.
The incident came in the top of the ninth inning and the fan can clearly be heard on the broadcast as he yells the n-word during the at-bat.
Fans and media were outraged and voiced their disgust on social media, where many called for the Rockies to find the fan and hold him accountable.
A fan at Coors Field just yelled the N-word at Lewis Brinson so loudly that the Bally Sports microphone picked it up. Absolutely horrible.

There was some racist person screaming the N word at the top of his lungs at Brinson while he was at the plate. Came through on TV clearly. Terrible. Rockies need to find this bastard and do bad things to him.

The level of hate that was displayed has no place in this world. Unfortunately it's still far too prevalent. We need to be better. And soon.

There was no word yet on whether or not the fan was identified by the Rockies or stadium security.
There has seemingly been a spike in fan behavior directed toward athletes this year, with several incidents during the NBA playoffs of fans throwing objects or, in one case, spitting on, players.
Last month, Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo was hit by a baseball thrown back onto the field at Yankees Stadium by a fan.
The fans have been banned from the ballpark for life in all instances.
It remains to be seen if and how the fan at Coors Field is caught and disciplined.
